Like
a new season, cold and dreary to warm and inviting... The new Sombrance
disc is here. With powerful and soft melodies, this band does it
all.
It's
very distant from the disc The Cold Awakening, which I thought was
a haunting piece of work (excellent). The new disc brings back memories
of past groups like vocals of The Raspberries and Hawkwind (imagine
that!).
The
music is excellent
great guitars, drums, and vocals that are
expressive, happy, sad, and powerfully strong. There's great mixing
by Jimmy Brown as well. This is a worthy disc for any collection.
Thanks
for your time

"Very
nice! I remember downloading Mercy River a while back too. Both
songs are great. -Wasting Away- reminds me a bit of the Choir. I
love the guitar sound. Overall has a very emotive vibe going on.
The singer is very good at conveying emotion." - Transient
Soul
"Dude
once again you blow me away with the music man.... These new tunes
are awesome!! Overall I think the only problem with Eli is the fact
there are only four songs on the entire album. After listening to
it I was left wanting to hear more." - Aaron Church
"I've
been listening to this CD a few times each day and have come to
the conclusion that it's rockin!!" - Becca
Sad,
beautiful Music with vocals that engage the angels and haunt the
soul... A brooding mix of emotion and power that leave the heart
wanting more... Music for those who are caught between Heaven and
Hell... for Earth Below.
"Wasting Away - That has got to be my favorite Sombrance song
of all time" - Jimmy P Brown II
"You
guys are awesome man!!" - Jesse's younger sister Rachel
- :-P
"I
found myself wishing that there were at least a couple more songs
when the four were over. I personally liked the heavier song best,
but you probably knew I was going to say that!" - Tim (United
Music Palace)
Mester
describes the music as "Dirge Pop" and explains (in the
bio on the band's web site) that his desire is to explore the darker,
more melancholy side of music. He hits the mark pretty well. The
guitar work is excellent, a nice blend of blues rock with enough
emotion to make you cry. The vocals sound great and are mixed into
the music just right. Kudos to Jimmy P. Brown II of Deliverance
and Fearful Symmetry fame for a great job mixing, advising and adding
his musical talents.
Overall
this is a great CD with a really cool, low key bluesy sound. I would
recommend it to anyone listening to blues rock or looking for a
smooth, darkish blend of pop-rock. I hope Sombrance is able to get
their full length CD out as planned. I'd like to hear more from
them. -John Venvertloh 1340Mag
Far
and away one of the most interesting demo CDs I have ever received.
Sombrace have a very unique sound that actually makes it difficult
to describe in words. Words like somber, emotional, and melancholy
come to mind when I think about Sombrance's music. At times the
music almost has a Pink Floyd-like quality. Scott
Waters (Ultimatum/No Life Til Metal)
